Site Description:
AfterImage is a genealogy research site dedicated to the Fleenor/Fleener and Hattabaugh families
and their related lines, inluding, but not limited, to:   Hendrickson, Blackwood, Nicholson, Turley,
Trueblood, Carter, Green(e), Jackson, Fulkerson, Minnick, Stalker, Johnson, Shields, Walker,
Crow(e), Kemp, Koiner/Coynart/Keinadt, Holmes, Boling, Potts, Logan, Duncan, Brock, McCallen
and many others.   The original Flinner German immigrants arrived   in Philadelphia from
Wurttemberg Germany in 1754.   We have two Hattabaugh lines represented.   My line descends
from   our first Hettenbach ancestor, Johann Michel Hettenbach who arrived in Philadelphia in 1752
and lived in Montgomery Co., PA.   That line, through Michael's son George, migrated from PA. to
MD. to VA. and then southern Indiana about 1809.   A second Hattabaugh line is Jacob
Hattenbach/Hettenbach who arrived in Philadelphia in 1749, migrated to DE., and then his
descendant, Jacob,   migrated to what is now Washington County, IN. (with a short stop in KY.),
at the same time as George Hattabaugh from VA. moved there.   That's another indication of a
family connection between the two lines, but no definitive proof of that original family blending.
The theory is that Johann Michael and his travel companion Johann Georg, and the 1749
immigrant Jacob Hettenbach, may have been brothers.   Later descendants of both those
Hattabaugh lines intermarried with a number of other pioneer Hoosiers, including Fleenors.

The   descendants of the Flinner line did not continue to use that surname.   All of them appear in
all records past those in MD. as Fleener, Flener, and Fleenor (or sometimes Fleaner)   with their
immigration path being PA to MD to VA to TN and KY and IN and points west.   Hettenbach in
PA, beginning with Johann Michel's son Johann Georg   appears in records as Edebach,
Hedebach and Hedebaugh in VA, as well as some other even stranger variations.   The name
became Hattabough and   Hattabaugh in KY., IN, AR, MO, OK. records and is almost exclusively
Hattabaugh at present.   Johann George aka George Hattabaugh had a number of half-siblings
about whom nothing is known.   If they remained in PA., it's possible that they continued to use
Hettenbach or Hattenbach or a closer version of their true name.

New family members to our site are welcome.   We all enjoy sharing our research, and if you join,
we expect you to add what you can to our archives so that eventually we'll have a true and
complete picture of our family heritage.   Contact me at
geneworks@fleenorhattabaughfamilies.com   for an invitation, or at geneworkers@yahoo.com.

God bless you and God bless America
